Living Histories: Catherine

Catherine is a lady with Refugee status from the Central African Republic. She is currently waiting for a decision from the Home Office and is unsure of what the decision will be but is hopeful. Catherine regularly attends Church and her young daughter is a blessing keeping her going. As well as attending Church, she also attends ESOL classes in the community, volunteers and especially enjoys singing together with others in the ‘One World Choir’, in an act of solidarity and togetherness.

Catherine’s story is part of the ‘Displaced Migration: Living Histories project’ – a project by Element Society, in partnership with Storying Sheffield at University of Sheffield, and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Element Society is a youth charity based in Sheffield delivering development, social action and enterprise programmes to young people and vulnerable adults.
