Living Histories: Livia Barreira

Livia is a trained Journalist from Brazil. When she got married, she decided to move to Sheffield and has since been volunteering for various organisations in her career area. She has an Instagram profile called @livinginsheffield where she posts about positive and exciting events in Sheffield. Livia shares memories of the carnival in Brazil, where she says “you can be what you want” – it has been 5 years since she last went to the carnival and she misses the beaches, too.

Livia’s story is part of the ‘Displaced Migration: Living Histories project’ – a project by Element Society, in partnership with Storying Sheffield at University of Sheffield, and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Element Society is a youth charity based in Sheffield delivering development, social action and enterprise programmes to young people and vulnerable adults.
