Living Histories: Olivia Joseph

Sarah Orola interviewed her Mum, Olivia Joseph, for the Living Histories project. They have their roots in Guyana, South America. She had a strict but loving childhood, as her parents worked in politics and the army. Her Mother wanted to move back to her home country of Suriname and she also did the same for her daughters Sarah and Angel. Olivia migrated to the UK at 18 years old as a student.

Olivia’s story is part of the ‘Displaced Migration: Living Histories project’ – a project by Element Society, in partnership with Storying Sheffield at University of Sheffield, and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Element Society is a youth charity based in Sheffield delivering development, social action and enterprise programmes to young people and vulnerable adults.
