The charged political climate around migration as well as keen public interest in the situations of refugees and asylum seekers has prompted us to reflect on questions that arise in arts-based research that is co-produced with individuals and communities.
These questions include:
– What kinds of activities engage participants and how are they effective in increasing their sense of personal well-being and belonging in Sheffield?
– How effective is creative work in documenting and/or communicating the opinions and motivations of migrants.
– What lessons have we learnt about effective collaborations between academics, artists and individuals participating in artistic activities.
We will be addressing these in upcoming activities. We are currently developing a network and exchange project with the MoVE project based at University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
