Storying Sheffield

Part of the Off The Shelf Festival of Writing and Reading, this event will showcase and launch a brand new piece of sound art combining the poetry of Simon Armitage with the voices of Sheffield people responding to his readings.

Selected works from Simon’s 2011 remarkable collection Seeing Stars were discussed by a diverse range of Sheffield people, with their responses to the poems recorded.  These have been melded with readings by the poet himself to create a haunting and powerful audio work.  The event will also include discussion of a University of Sheffield study into how we respond to poetry.
